HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES-92-5553 (FINANCE DIRECTOR EMERGENCY SERVICES DISASTER)1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 92- 5553 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR AS DESIGNATED AGENT TO PROVIDE, TO THE STATE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES, FOR ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO SUCH STATE DISASTER ASSISTANCE THE ASSURANCES AND AGREEMENTS REQUIRED. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Viki Copeland, Finance Director, is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of the City of Hermosa Beach, State of California, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, this application and to file it in the Office of Emergency Services for the purpose of obtaining certain federal financial assistance under P.L. 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988, or state financial assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Act. SECTION 2. That the City of Hermosa Beach, State of California, a public entity established under the laws of the State of California, hereby authorizes its agent to provide to the State Office of Emergency Services for all matters pertaining to such state disaster assistance the assurances and agreements required. Dated: J e~ ;z Ll , 1992 audit/agntreso Clerk of the CIT7 OF qiERMOSA BEACH COUNTY OF Las e es STATE OF CALIFORNIA June 16, 1992 Honorable Mayor and Regular Meeting of Members of the City Council June 23, 1992 ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION 92 - AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR AS THE DESIGNATED AGENT FOR ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO STATE DISASTER ASSISTANCE Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution 92- authorizing the Finance Director as the designated agent for all matters pertaining to state disaster assistance, in order for the City to recover costs associated with the Los Angeles fires and civil unrest. Backaround: On May 19, 1992, representatives of the Finance and Police Departments attended a meeting regarding reimbursement from the State Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for costs related to the Los Angeles fires and civil unrest in Los Angeles. Since Los Angeles was declared a disaster area as a result of the damage, communities in the county will be eligible for 75% matching funds. Analysis: Adoption of the attached resolution is required prior to submission of claims. Upon approval, the Finance and Public Safety Departments will coordinate on the filing of claims to recover all City costs. Concur: Viki Copeland Frederick R.
