ORDINANCE NO. 11-1320
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING SECTION 2.08.020 OF THE HERMOSA BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION
LIMITATIONS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2.08.020 of Title 2, Chapter 2.08 of the Hermosa Beach Municipal
I Code is amended to read as follows:
12.08. 020 Campaign contribution limitations.
A. No person shall make a contribution to any candidate for city elective office, nor shall any
candidate for city elective office accept, any contribution in aid of the election of a candidate to a
city elective office which will cause the total given by such person with respect to a single election
to exceed the sum of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). This section shall not apply to amounts
given by a candidate to his or her own campaign.
B. Contributions by a husband and wife shall be treated as separate contributions and shall not
be aggregated. Contributions by children under eighteen (18) years of age shall be treated as
contributions attributed equally to each parent or guardian.
SECTION 2. If any part of this Ordinance or its application is deemed invalid by a court of
competent jurisdiction, the City Council intends that such invalidity will not affect the effectiveness
of the remaining provisions or applications and, to this end, the provisions of this Ordinance are
severable.
SECTION 3. Adoption of this Ordinance is not a project within the meaning of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15378 of the State CEQA
Guidelines.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect from
and after thirty (30) days of its final passage and adoption.

SECTION 5. Prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days after the date of its adoption, the
City Clerk shall cause this ordinance to be published in the "Easy Reader," a weekly newspaper of
general circulation published and circulated in the City of Hermosa Beach, California, in the
manner provided by law.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance,
shall enter the same in the book of original ordinances of said city, and shall make minutes of the
passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council at which the
same is passed and adopted.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 25th of January 2011 by the following vote:
AYES: Bobko, DiVirgilio, Fishman, Mayor Tucker
NOES: Duclos
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

I, Elaine Doerfling, City Clerk of the City of Hermosa Beach, California, do
hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 11-1320 was duly and regularly passed,
approved and adopted by the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach at a regular
meeting held at the regular meeting place thereof on the 25th of January, 2011, and said
ordinance will be published in the Easy Reader newspaper on February 3, 2011.
The vote was as follows:
