A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY
OF HERMOSA BEACH DENYING A VARIANCE ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT
338 PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY, HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of He ;rmosa Beach,
at a publc hearing held on October 18, 1982 in the Council' Chambers
of the City Hall,.considered the request of Ms. Lenora S. Ammon, for
permission to provide less than one space for each 75 sq. ft. of
gross floor area devoted to amusement arcade use; on property legally
described as Lot 15, Hurd 1 s Ocean View Tract; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the following facts were presented
for consideration; that the Planning Commission required the owner
to provide 3 parking spaces in his 7-space parking lot for this
store when it was built for general commercial use, with the remain-
ing 4 spaces to be reserved for the other two stores on the property;
that the area to be used is 1000 sq. ft. which requires 13 spaces
for arcade use; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the applicant stated that most of
their business would be teenagers riding bicycles and not driving
cars; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the proprietors of three neighboring
businesses spoke in opposition to the request; and
. .'liEREAS, after due consider at ion, it is the opinion of the Board of
Zoning Adjustments that the variance request is not justified for
the following reason:
1. That the discrepancy between parking provided and
parking required is too great.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that in view of the above findings
of fact, the Board of Zoning Adjustments does hereby deny the variance
by the following vote:
AYES: Comms. Cutler, Ebey, Toth
NOES: Chmn. Moore
ABSENT: Comm. Williams
CERTIFICATION
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution BZA 154-491 was adopted
by the Board of Zoning Adjustments at a regular meeting held on the 18th
day of October, 1982.
