A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMEN'I.1S : OF THE CITY
OF HERMOSA BEACH DENYING A VARIANCE ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT
950 AVIATION BOULEVARD, HERMOSA "BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach,
at a public hearing held on March 1, 1982 in the Clark Stadium Com-
munity Building, considered the request of Mr. Eddie Talbot to provide
less than one space for each 75 sq. ft. of gross floor area devoted to
amusement arcade use; on property known as Lots 87-94, Tract 5650;
and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the following facts were presented
for consideration; that amusement or recreation uses are required to
provide one space for every 75 sq. ft. of gross floor area devoted to
such use; that the area to be used is 1232 sq. ft. requiring 16 spaces;
that the applicant is able to provide 6 spaces; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the applicant stated that his justi-
fication for the request was that by 5:00 p.m. 66% of the building
will be shut down, leaving 66% of the remaining 23 parking spaces
for the arcade use; and that 75% of his patrons will not be driving
automobiles; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, five residents of the area spoke in
opposition to the request noting traffic and parking problems; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration, it is the opinion of the Board of
Zoning Adjustments that the variance request is not justified for
the following reason:
1. There was not enough evidence presented to indicate
that the existing parking would be adequate for this
use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that in view of the above finding of
fact, the Board of Zoning Adjustments does hereby deny the variance
request by the following vote:
AYES: Comms. Cutler, DeBellis, Ebey, Toth, Williams, Chmn. Merrill
NOES: None
ABSENT: Comm. Moore
CERTIFICATION
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution BZA 154-451 was adopted
by the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach at a
regular meeting held on the 1st day of March, 1982.
