A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF HERMOSA BEACH AMENDING
l ARTICLES 2, 11.5, 10, AND 8 OF THE CITY ZONING CODE BY REDEFINING HOTEL,
2 MOTEL AND DELETING BOARDING/ROOMING/LODGING HOUSES AND
DETERMINING THE APPROPRIATE ZONES FOR HOTEL AND MOTEL, AS WELL AS
3 AMENDING PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR HOTELS.
4 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a hearing on September 6, 1983 to reconsider
the above topic as amended by the City Council; and
5 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds that the terms motel and hotel, require
6 redefinition; and
7 WHEREAS, the Planning Commissiqn has determined that it is in the community's best
interest to discourage boarding/rooming/lodging houses; and
8 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has determined that motels, as defined in the
9 attached ordinance, are appropriate for C-2 and C-3 zones; and
lO WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has determined that parking requirements for
hotels should be based on demand rather than simply floor space.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does
hereby recommend to the City Council that changes t o Article 2, 11.5, 10. and 8
of the Zoning Code be effected as enumerated in the attached ordinance,
Chmn Izant; Comms Brown, Newton, Shapiro, Soulakis
