RESOLUTION P.C. 82-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH APPROVING AND RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF HERMOSA
BEACH AN AMENDMENT TO THE OPEN SPACE ZONE BY ADDING RAIL TRANSIT
TO THE PERMITTED USES IN THAT ZONE.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of Hermosa Beach held a public
hearing on July 6, 1982 to consider the above request; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered the size and
topography of the area, the traffic situation, its current use,
and neighboring uses; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission is in the process of rezoning
the railroad right-of-way from unzoned to open space; and
WHEREAS, rezoning to open space prior to abandonment by the Santa
Fe Co. will create a non-conforming use on the railroad
right-of-way; and
WHEREAS, rail transit is presently not a permitted use in an open
space zone; and
WHEREAS, the City has

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of
Hermosa Beach does hereby approve and recommends to the City
Council of Hermosa Beach to amend the open space zone by adding
rail transit to the permitted uses in that zone. Rail transit
shall consist of:
1) The accommodation of railroad tracks.
2) Signals (and other operative devices).
3) The movement of rolling stock, freight, passengers.
4) Landscaping and related appurtenances.
