A RESOLUTION OF TIIE PLANNING COMMISSION OF HERMOSA BEACH DENYING A PROPOSED
FOR SECOND UNITS ON R-1 LOTS ,OF 5,000 OR MORE SQUARE FEET, WITH SUCH UNITS
BEING INTENDED FOR ONE OR TWO PERSONS OF SIXTY YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER,
AND SUCH UNIT NOT EXCEEDING 640 SQUARE FEET OF FLOOR AREA.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on July 20, 1982
to consider the viability of a second unit on R-1 lots of 5,000 or more
square feet; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission feels that there is a need for housing
units for senior citizens in Hermosa Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Corrrrnission feels that a second unit on R-1 lots,
regardless of its intended use, would contradict the basic premise for
creating an R-1 zone; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission concludes that senior citizen housing
can be more adequately addressed in another fashion; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission is aware of and involved in other efforts
to create senior citizen housing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission denies this
proposal for second units on R-1 lots of 5,000 or more square feet, with
having been intended for senior citizen occupancy.
