LAWSON 900 STRAND TO DENY: VARIANCE TO CLOSE OFF ONE GARAGE A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH DENYING A VARIANCE TO CLOSE OFF ONE GARAGE OF A THREE-CAR GARAGE. SAID GARAGE TO BE CLOSED OFF WOULD BE USED FOR STORAGE. THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, there was filed with this Board under the provisions of Ordinance N. s. 154, an application for a variance by Mr. and Mrs. Howard B. Lawson upon property located at 900 Strand, legally described as Lot 1, Block 10, Hermosa Beach Tract, Hermosa Beach, California, and WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach did on January 3, 1972, conduct a public hearing to consider this application for a variance to close off one garage of a three-car garage, said garage to be used for storage, and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, there was presented written and oral testimony on the property described as follows: Lot 1, Block 10, Hermosa Beach Tract, known as 900 Strand, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That in view of the findings at said hearing, the Board of Zoning Adjustments does hereby deny this variance for the following reasons: I. That there are no exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or conditions appl I cable to the property Involved. 2. That such variance is not necessary for the preservation and enjoyment of a substantial property right possessed by other property in the same vicinity and zone, and denied to the property in question. 3. That the granting of this variance would be materially detri- mental to the public welfare and injurious to the property and improvements in such vicinity and zone because it would be add- ing to the overly congested parking situation that now exists i n that area. The foregoing Resolution BZA 154-59 was adopted by the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach at a regular meeting held January 3, 1972, by the following vote: AYES: Comms. Alton, Basila, Schubert, Williams NOES: None ABSENT: Comm. Ostermann CERTIFICATION I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution BZA 154-59 was adopted by the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach at a regular meeting held on this 3rd day of January, 1972.
