HomeMy WebLinkAboutBZA 154-65RESOLUTION: BZA 154-65 NAME: LOCATION: EMPIRE SAVINGS & LOAN ASSOCIATION 1201 HERMOSA AVENUE TO DENY: VARIANCE TO SIGN ORDINANCE A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH DENYING A VARIANCE TO ERECT A TWO-FACED ROOF SIGN EXTENDING 18 FT. ABOVE THE HIGHEST PORTION OF THE ROOF IN LIEU OF THE REQUIRED HEIGHT OF 10 FT. ABOVE THE HIGHEST PORTION OF THE ROOF ALLOWED BY THE ZONING ORDINANCE. THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, there was filed with this Board under the provisions of Ordinance N.S. 154, an application for a variance by Empire Savings and Loan Association upon property located at 1201 Hermosa Avenue, legally described as Lots 28 and 29, Block 13, Hermosa Beach Tract, and WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach did on February 7, 1972, conduct a pub! ic hearing to consider this application for a variance to erect a two faced roof sign extending 18 ft. above the highest portion of the roof in I ieu of the required height of 10 fto above the highest portion of the roof allONed by the Zoning Ordinance, and WHEREAS, at said pub! ic hearing, there was presented written and oral testimony on the property described as follows: Lots 28 and 29, Block 13, Hermosa Beach Tract, known, as 1201 Hermosa Avenue, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that in view of the findings at said hearing, the Board of Zoning Adjustments does hereby deny this variance for the follONing reasons: I. It has not been shONn that there are exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or conditions applicable to the property involved. 2. That such variance is not necessary for the preservation and enjoy- ment of a substantial property right possessed by other property in the same vicinity and zone, and denied to the property in question. 3. That the granting of such variance will be detrimental to the public welfare and injurious to the property or improvements in such vic- inity and zone in which the property is located. The foregoing Resolution BZA 154-65 was adopted by the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach at a regular meeting held February 7, 1972, by the following vote: AYES: Comms. Schubert, Williams, Chmn. Ostermann NOES: None ABSENT: Comm. Alton ABSTAIN: Comm.
