ROBERT COLLINS 1256 ARTESIA BOULEVARD VARIANCE TO SIGN ORDINANCE TO GRANT: RESOLUTION B.Z.A. 154-80 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CI TY OF HERMOSA BEACH GRANTING A VARIANCE TO LO\.JER AN EXISTING NONCONFORMING TWO FAC!i POLE SIGN FROM 16 FT. TO BOTTOM OF SIGN TO 13 FT.; INCREASE AREA FROM 60 SQ. FT. TO 64 SQ. FT.; CHANGE DIMENSIONS FROM 10 FT. HIGH X 6 FT. WIDE TO 4 FT. HIGH X 16 FT. WIDE, OR 5 FT. HIGH X 12 FT. WIDE, UPON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1256 ARTESIA BOULEVARD, HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA. THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH DOES RESOLVE AS FOLL0\4S: WHEREAS, there was filed with this Board under the provisions of Ordinance N.S. 154, an application for a variance by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Coll ins upon property located at 1256 Artesia Boulevard, Hermosa Beach, California, and WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach did on June 19, 1972, conduct a public hearing to consider this appJ ication for a variance to lower an existing nonconforming two face pole sign to 13 1 from bottom of sign to grade level; increase sign area to 64 sq. ft.; change dimensions to 4 ft. high x 16 ft. wide or 5 ft. high x 12 ft. wide, and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, there was presented written and oral testimony on the property described as follows: Lots 25 thru 29, 3 thru 7, \}alter Ransom Co.1 s Redondo Home Tract, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that in view of the findings at said hearing, the Board of Zoning Adjustments does hereby grant this variance for the following reasons: 1. There are exceptional and extraordinary circumstances and conditions applicable to the property involved because, this property being located on a State highway where nor- mally most of the property is zoned for commercial use and is being used for commercial uses, for them to comply with the R-P zone sign regulations would restrict them to very 1 imited signing in the advertisement of their commercial business. 2. That such variance is necessary for the preservation and enjoyment of a substantial property right possessed by other property in the same vicinity. 3. That the granting of such variance will not be materially detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to the prop- erty or improvements in such vicinity and zone in which the property is located. 4. That this property is presently zoned R-P with a C-2 potential use. PAGE 2 -RESOLUTION B.Z.A. 154-80 MR. & MRS. ROBERT COLL,NS 5. The Planning Commission previously approved 60 sq. ft. sign in this location and the usage would be conforming if the area were C-2. The foregoing Resolution BZA 154-80 was adopted by the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa Beach at a regular meeting held on June 19, 1972, by the fol lowing vote: AYES: Comms.
