A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL CERTAIN ACTION RID.ARDING
AN APPLICATION FOR ZONE VARIANCE AFFECTING PROPERTY I.OCATED ON
19TH STREET IN THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEA.CH, CALIFORNIA
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH does resolve as follows:
WHEREAfipthe Planning Commission did, on September-11, 1961, at a duly
advertised hearing, adopt Resolution P. c. 154-338, denying the application
for zone variance of Douglas F. and Barbara Craig to permit construction of a deck
encroaching 2'6" into the required 3' sideyard along the east side of the
building at second floor level, connecting to an existing nonconforming stair-
way and landing which encroaches 2'6" into the required 3t -sideyard, on that ·
property located at 72-19th Street and described as Lot 14, Blockl9, Hermosa
Beach Tract; and
WHEREAS, reconsideration of this application before a full Commission has
been requested by the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in view of the findings during review
of this action and Mrs. Craig having stated that it was satisfactory to her
interest that the vote be taken by a si.xMman commission tonight, it is the
recommendation of the Planning Commission that this application be denied for
the reason that there are no unusual circumstances regarding the individual
piece of property, there is no substantiating reason to continue an already
nonconforming structure within 611 of the property line, and that hardships as
indicated appear to be brought on by the owners' personal ideas 0£ how.to
improve their specific building.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Planning Conmrl.ssion at a regular
meeting held on October 9, 1961, by the following vote:
