A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL CERTAIN ACTION RID.AR.DING
PARKING RE~UIREMENTS AFFECTING PROPERTY LOCATED ON HERMOSA AVENUE
IN THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did, on November 13, 1961, deny the request
of Arthur Whitmore to add 952 square feet to the existing restaurant at
833 Hermosa Avenue, there being no existing and no proposed parking provided,
on the following described property:
Lot 17, Block 9, Hermosa Beach Tract; and
WHEREAS, reconsideration of this application with recommendation for
favorable consideration has been requested by the City Council of the City
of Hermosa Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in view of the findings during review
of this action, on December 11, ,1961, it is the recoIIDnendation of the Planning
Commission that one garage space shall be provided for the existing apartment
and a minimum of two other offstreet parking spaces be provided for the
ml.arged restaurant, and that permission to extend the restaurant with no
parking provisions be denied for the reasons that the area has inadequate
parking now; the site has inadequate parking; it is the desire of the Planning
Commission to upgrade the area and provide adequate parking; there has been
no additional information presented since the original hearing, at which time
a negative vote was cast; and it would discriminate against other business
property owners to ask them to provide parking space when the applicant in
this case would not be doing so.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Planning Commission at a regular
meeting held on December 11, 1961, by the following vote:
