A RESOLUTION OF THE PLAi.'"fflING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH GRANTING A ZONE V.ARI.AJ.'lCE UPON CER.'rAIN PROPERTY LOCATED
ON MONTEREY BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF IDfiliOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERi~OSA BEACH does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission; under the provisions of
ordinance N. S. 154, application for zone variance by_:E._ 'L. '.-and;-I;e:ah Jj;Kirkpatr::ickoo.
pcop~rty owned by the applicants and located at 1942 Monterey; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Contnission of the City of Hermosa Beach did on
March 12, 1962, conduct a duly advertised public hearing to consider this
application to permit an apartment addition of more than 40% floor area
over e.xisting garage that has a 2'2" rear setback in lieu of required 3',
a 22'2" turning radius in lieu of required 23', and 1918ft inside depth in
lieu of 20'; and a bedroolJ1o!o'bath addition to rear of erlsting dwelling
with .6t ·between dwellings in lieu of required 8', on that property
described as follows1
Lot 9, Tract 1131;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in view of the findings at said hearing,
the Planning Commission does hereby grant this zone variance, because it is
felt by the Planning Comm.ission that a hardship would be created on the
applicantsif this request we~e not granted, and the variances requested
stem mainly from t~e nonconformance of the existing structure; and also the
request for the 6T width between the d"1.lings in lieu of 8' is due ta t.rie
fact that the structure to be within the 6f is on the second level, an~
there still is sufficient access in case of movemen~ of fire equipm~nt.
1he foregoing resolution was adopted by the Planning Commission at a regular
meeting held on the 12th day of March, 1%2, by the following vote:
