Trott, Building and Planning Direct o r CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT -SOUTH BAY UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT Public he aring to consider the application of South Bay Union High School District for a Conditional Use Permi t to conduct adult education classes and nigh t classes as part of the South Bay Union High Scho ol a t 996-998 Artesia Blvd., l e gally d e scribed as part of lot 6, block 83, 2nd. additio n to Hermosa Be ach tra ct. Present to r ep resent South Bay Union High School District were Mr : F. Applegate and Mr. A. lsgreen. Mr. Applegate exp l ai ned that the school district had held many successful classes in Redondo Beach, but that condem nati on of buildings there had necessitated new quarters. He s tat e d that t he new quarters in Hermos a Beach would be divided in t o s ec tions for secretar ial, nursing, and home ma king and dress maiing, and that admin­ istration offices would a lso be required. After questions by the Commission he sa id t hat the lease woul d run for 3 years and would be re-negotia ble . There were questions directed to Mr. Trott, Building & Planning Director, as to th e condition of the building and Mr. Trott assured tho s e present tha t the building was adequate for the p r oposed use, with possibly only minor things to be done. Comm. Armer a sked what the impli c ations of this proposed use might me a n to t he General Plan, a nd he was tol d tha t i f a better development was found for t he property in question, th e own e rs of the property could re-negotiate. There was no one pre sent to speak ag a inst the application , and the public hearing was closed . Af ter further discussion, a motion was made by Comm. Noble, and seconded by Comm. Boice, t o grant the applica t ion and the motion carried by unanimous vote. Motion was t hen mad e by Corrm. Noble, seconded by Comm. Boice, to ad opt Resolution P.C. 154-603, granting th e Conditional Use Permit f or the s pecific uses of day and nigh t classes a nd adminis t r a tion offices as part of the South Bay Union High School District, beca use it has been de te rmined by the Pl anning Comm ission t here would be no de triment al use of the proper t y in q uestion, and it appears t o be no t in conflict and is compatible with t he sur r ounding area, and i t i s in keepi ng with the Genera t-el an uses, The motion carried by unanimous vot ~·;. ~\ ADJOURNMENT 7: 30 p .m.
