A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF THE PLANNING COMMI SS ION OF THE CITY
OF HERMOSA BEACH TO INITIATE ACTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERATION
OF AMEND I NG ZONING ORDINANCE N.S. 154 BY AMEND ING SECTION 220 OF
ART ICLE 2 CHANGIN G DEFINITION OF 11 FAMILY11
THE PLANNIN G COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH does re solve as follows:
WHEREAS , th e re has been an increasin g number of young people, not
rela ted by blood or ma rria ge, renting hou se s and apartme nts; a nd
WHEREAS , t hese indi viduals have been creating prob l e ms t o the adjacent
fa mily -typ e nei g hbo rs; and
WHEREAS, by red ~cin g t he number of pe~pl e not relat ed by bl ood or marriage
from fi ve (5) peop l e to two (2) people, would elim inat e some of the
po l ic e problems now f r eq ue ntl y occurring i n many areas of the City; and
WHEREAS , in view o f t he f inding s durin g said revi ew, it is th e opinion
of t he Planning Commission t h at amendment of Article 2 , Section 2 20 of
s aid Zoning Ordinance is in or der to -w i t:

Section 220 -Family
11 Family11 mea ns an individual, or two or more person s r e lated by
blood o r marri a ge, oo not more t ha n two pers on s, excl ud i ng s e rvant s,who
are not related by bl ood o r marriag e, l i vin g tog e ther a s a si ngle
housekeep in g unit i n a dwelling unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, under t he provisi ons of Ord ina nce
N.S. 154 , Sect ion 1501, the Planning Commission i n i tiate a cti on to conduct
a pu b l ic hearing at the re g ular mee ting of J une 12, 196 7 , at 7:30 p.m.,
at the official meeting pl ace, for the p urpose of cons ideration of
ame ndmen t as s et forth herein,
The for egoing resolution was adopted by the Pla nning Comm ission a t
a n adjourned meeting held May 22, 1967 , by th e following vot e :
