A RESOLUTION OF THE PLO.NNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH
RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL AMENDMENT OF ZONING ORDINANCE N.S 0 154
BY AMENDING THEREIN SECTION 220 OF ARTICLE 2 CHANGING DEFINITION OF 11FAMILY 11
THE PLO.NNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH does resolv e as follows:
WHEREAS, und er the provisions of Ordinance N.S. 154, Section 1501, th e
Planning Conmission did, on May 22, 1967, adopt Resolution of Intention P.C.
154-614 , to ini t iate action for t he purpose of consideration of amending
Ordinance N.S. 154, Ar t icle 2, Section 220; and
WHEREAS, on June 12, 1967, public hear ing was held, after d uly be ing advertised;
and the proposed amendment studied a nd re viewed by th e Planning Comm ission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, in view of the findings at said hea ring ,
t he Planning Commission recomme nd t o th e Ci t y Council of the City of Hermosa
Beach, amendment of Ord inance N.S. 154, Article 2, Sec tion 220 to read as

"Family!' me ans an individual, or two or more persons related by blood
or ma rriag e , or not mor e than two pe rso ns, exc luding servants, who ar e not
related by blood or mar r iage, living tog et her as a single housekeeping unit
in a dwe lling un it.
This recomnendation is ma de for the reasons that it has been rec ommended by
the Chief of Pol ice and th e City Attorney that this proposed amendme n t would
provide th em with sufficient tools to co rrect a pr oblem which has become more
and more ev ident during the past years, and for the reason that it would
indi cate to the citizens of this communi ty that t he authorized gover ni ng
bod ies are taking action to move in the direction that seems to be in the
bes t in terests of the majority of the residents.
The fo rego ing re s olution was adopted by the Plannin g Commission at a regul a r
meeting held on June 12, 1967, by the following vo te:
