A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH
DENYING A ZONE VAR I ANGE UPON CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED ON EIGHTEENTH
STREET IN THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA
THE PLANNING COMMISSION of the City of Hermosa Beach does resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission, under the provisions of
Ordinance N.S. 1~4. application for zone variance by Herbert Rosenkrantz
upon property currently in escrow, and located at 922 18th Stree~;and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on August 14, 1967, at a regular meeting,
conduct a duly advertised public hearing to consider application to permit
the applicant to convert two contiguous lots (with building presently covering
a portion of both lots) back into separate lots by removing five (5) inches
from the existing building which now encroaches five (5) inches into the side
yard of the adjoining lot, leaving a zero (0) sideyard setback in 1 ieu of the
required minimum 3 teet, on property legally described as:
lots 11 and 12, Block 2, Johnson Newman Camino Real tract; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Corrmission made a motion, which carried by unanimous vote,
to re-open and continue the public hearing to the next regular meeting of the
Corrmission on September 11, 1967, to allow the applicant sufficient time to
present an alternate plan; and
WHEREAS, the applicant dTd appear at the meeting of September 11, 1967, which
meeting was adjourned for lack ot a quorum to a date of September 18, 1967; and
WHEREAS, adjourned meeting of Septem_ber 18, 1967 was held, and applicant was
present; and motion was made to grant the variance but failed to carry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in view of the findings at said hearings,
the Planning Commission does hereby deny this zone variance on the grounds it
did not carry the positive five votes ne~essary to pass.
The foregoing resolution was adopted by the Planning Commission at an adjourned
meeting held on September 18, 1967, by the following vote:

ABSENT: None
Comm. Reeves gave his reason for passing as follows: because the confusion of the
many motions made by the Commission during the hearing makes It ditticult
to make a decision in a clear light.
