HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Resolution 154-654Name: Madelyn Jonnson Location: Part of lot 5, block 83, 2nd addition to Hermosa Beach tract Rezone from R-1 to R-3 To Permit: Date: Apr i 1 1 , l 968 RESOLUTION P.C. 154-654 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL CERTAIN ACTION REGARDING PROPERTY LOCATED BETWEEN TWENTY-FIRST STREET AND ARTESIA, ON THE WEST SIDE OF PROSPECT AVENUE IN THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission, application for zone amendment by Madelyn Johnson, affecting property located between Twenty-first street and Artesia on Prospect Avenue; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on March 4, 1968, at a duly advertised public hearing adopt Resolution P.C. 154-643, denying the application for zone amendment on that property described as follows: That portion of lot 5, block 83, of the second addition to Hermosa Beach tract, beginning at the northeast corner of said lot 5, thence southerly 112.5 feet on the easterly line of said lot 5, thence 351 .8 feet in a westerly direction to the westerly line of said lot 5, thence northerly along said westerly 1 ine 112.S feet to the northerly line of said lot, thence in an easterly direction along said northerly line 345 feet to the point of beginning; and WHEREAS, this denial was appealed to the City Counci 1 by the applicant, and reconsideration of the application has been requested by the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, after review of this action, it is the recorrmendation of the Planning Commission that said appl icant 1 s request for zone change to re-zone from R-1 to R-3 the property above described, be granted for the reason that after reconsideration of this particular parcel relative to the entire area, and to the General Plan, it appears that, at this time, this is the only practical zoning for said parcel. Further, it is hoped by the Commission that a new R-3 (R) zone might be adopted in the future, which would insure the City of the proper develo~ment with respect to this area and other like areas. The Commission has felt, and does feel, that the general area of this parcel should be re-zoned to multiple use, but at the time the application was presented,the Commission did not believe the City had the proper controls for good development under our presenti~i3RZ6ning:ng. The foregoing resolution was adopted by the P1anning Commissionat a regular meeting held on the 1st day of April, 1968, by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT; Comm.
