1 11 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
2 11 BEACH, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING AMENDMENT OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
PERTAINING TO ALLOWABLE DENSITY IN THE R-1, R-2, R-2B, R-3, AND
3 11 R-P ZONES.
4 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Hermosa
5 11Beach, California held a public hearing on this matter on January
6 7, 1986, and made the following findings:

High residential density is a significant problem in the
City of Hermosa Beach;
It is in the interests of the residents of Hermosa Beach
to decrease residential density;
The proposed density reduction is comparable to the
standards of cities studied in Los Angeles County;
Lower density requirements will make the City's zoning
ordinance more consistent with the General Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission

The maximum number of dwell i ng units per acre should be
33 in the Multiple Family Residential zone (R-3) and the
Residential Professional zone (R-P). At minimum, the
zoning ordinance should be amended so that it is consis
tent with the General Plan, I.e. 40 units per acre.
The maximum number of units in the Two Family Residen
tial and Limited Multiple Fa mil y (R-2 and R-2B) zones
for apartments should not b e modified. The minimum lot
size should be 2950 square feet .
Condominiums should be modified to be the same as apart
ments, i.e. a maximum of 2 units per lot regardless of
the size of the lot.
The maximum number of units in the One-Family Residen
tial zone (R-1) should remain one (1) dwelling unit per
each divided lot.
The zoning ordinance should be amended to indicate that
density may be limited by amendment to the Zoning Map.
