C. 86-6 A RESOLUTION OF THE HERMOSA BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING AMENDMENTS i,: •; 1 'ID THE HERMOSA BEACH SIGN ORDINANCE WHEREAS, the Herrrosa Beach Planning Corrmission held a public hearing on January 21, 1986 to review and recomnend revisions to the Herrrosa Beach Sign Ordiannce; and WHEREAS, the corrmission reviewed the subjects of sign area in the Cl and C2 zones, doubl-face signing, comrodity identification, definition of lot frontage, and consolidation of the design and construction requirements with the Uniform Building Code; and WHEREAS, it was determined that the Planning Corrmission recomnends the following:· 1) that a minimum of 20 square feet of signing be allowed; 2) that the use of double "face.·:sigriing .in the ·c1 arid-C2 zones >be prohibited and in the C3 zone only one side of a double-face sign be counted as ,sign area provided both sides are identical; 3) that conmodity identification be allowed provided the subject corrrrodity constitutes an integral part of the business; 4) the definition of lot frontage shall read "Lot frontage shall mean the linear distance of a lot line, separating the lot from the street or highway which is used for pedestrian or vehicular access to the business being conducted on said lot. In cases where a lot is contiguous to nore than one street, the lot frontage shall be the frontage associated with the street identified with the address of the business . 11 ; 5) the requirement for use of secondary frontage for calculation of allowable area shall remain the same except that area calculated for secondary frontage can be used only on the secondary frontage; 6) that Section 28A-7 be revised to be consistent with the Uniform -1- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 Building Code regarding structural design and retain those portions not addressed by the U.B.C. such as clearance from overhead electrical conductors and projection of signs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Comrntssion of the City of Henrosa Beach does hereby recornnend the above listed revisions to the Henrosa Beach Sign Ordinance.
