A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A CONDITONAL USE PERMIT TO ALLOW AN
84 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION FOR A BOX OFFICE AND NEGATIVE DECLARATION
AT 1018 HERMOSA AVENUE, LEGALLY DESCRIBED AS LOTS 1, 2, AND 3,
BLOCK 35, 1ST ADDITION TO HERMOSA BEACH TRACT.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a Puhl ic Hearing on
March 15, 1988 to receive oral and written testimony regarding
th is matter pursuant to applicable law and made the fol lowing
Findings:
A. The applicant is requesting an 84 square foot addition to
relocate the existing box office;
B. The proposed box office addition will reduce or eliminate
lines along the sidewalk occuring before a show by adding
additional ticket windows;
C . The safety of the employees within the ticket booth will be
improved by eliminating the need to carry cash across the
seating area of the club by relocating the box office closer
to the general offices;
D. The proposed addition will not require additional parking
because it is under roof area and therefore, is part of the
existing building;
E. The Conditions included within this Resolution will include
the Conditions of previous resolutions;
F . The proposed addition is consistent with the Zoning Ordinance
and General Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission
of the City of Hermosa Beach, California does hereby approve
a Conditional Use Permit Amendment for an 84 square foot
addition for a box office and Environmental Negative

The seating plan may be modified for special
occasions provided all requirements of the Building
and Fire Departments are met.
The business shall have soundproofing.
The business shall provide adequate management and
supervisory techniques to prevent loitering, unruliness,
and boisterous activities of patrons outside the
business or in the immediate area.
Off-sale or take-out of any alcoholic beverages shall be
prohibited.
If, in the jugdment of the Police Department, it is
deemed necessary, two policemen will be assigned as
doormen at the business' expense during hours of
operation.
A maximum of 50% of total receipts of the entire
business shall be for alcoholic beverages.
A sign shall be posted notifying the patrons of the
illegality of open containers on public streets,
sidewalks, Strand, and the beach.
Service of alcohol to anyone on skates shall be
prohibited.
10. Any changes to the interior layout of this establishment
shall be subject to approval from the Planning
Commission.
11. Dancing shall be prohibited.
12. Comedy/theatrical productions shall be maintained at
least 50% of the operating time.

shall not create a nuisance to the

a. During the performance of any type of
entertainment, the exterior doors and windows shall
remain closed.
14. The City shall have the right during business hours,
upon 15 days notice, to inspect the books and records of
the applicant to determine the gross sales of alcoholic
beverages. Upon request at the inspection, the
applicant shall also submit to the City, copies of all
records submitted to the State Board of Equilization for
the purposes of verifying the applicant's books and
records, with the understanding that these reviews are
confidential.
15. This Conditional Use Permit shall be reviewed at six (6)
month intervals.
16. Screens shall be installed on all openable exterior
windows at ground floor level to prevent pass-through of
alcoholic beverages and to control flies.
17. The establishment shall not adversely affect the welfare
of the residents, and/or commercial establishments
nearby.
18. A manager or clerk who is aware of conditions of the
Conditional Use Permit shall be on the premises during
business hours.
a. Each manager shall be given a copy of the
Conditional Use Permit and shall acknowledge by
singature that the Conditional Use Permit has been
read and understood.
19. The exterior of the premises including parking areas
shal 1 be maintained in a neat and clean manner at al 1
times.
20. Prior to a Conditional Use Permit being in effect, the
applicant shall submit to the Planning Department, a
signed and notarized "Acceptance of Conditions" form.
21. A Condit ion al Use Permit shal 1 be recorded with the
deed, and proof of recordation shall be submitted to the
Planning Department.
22. The Planning Commission may review the Conditional Use
Permit and may amend the subject conditions or impose
any new conditions if deE~med necessary to mitigate
detrimental effects on the neighborhood resulting from
the subject use.

154-561, 154-467, 154-337 and Resolution P.C. 78-3.
