A RESOLUTION OF THE HERMOSA IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION
GRANTING A VARIANCE FOR A TIME AND TEMPERATURE PANEL
AT 199 PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY
WHEREAS, the Hermosa Improvement Commission at their April 18, 1978 meet-
ing, considered the request for a time and temperature panel (two sided)
at 199 Pacific Coast Highway; and
WHEREAS, the Commission noted that a variance would be necessary as time
and temperature panels were classified as flashing signs by the City Sign
Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the applicant indicated that the owner of the business was primer-
ily interested in the time and temperature panel as a community service,
rather than an attraction for business; and
WHEREAS, the Commission received no testimony in opposition to the proposal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Hermosa Improvement Commission
grants a variance, permitting a two sided time and temperature panel at
199 Pacific Coast Highway, because proposed signs do not constitute the
concept of 11 flashing signs 11 , and serve as an information function for the
public.
