RESOLUTION P.C. 90-77
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DENYING A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT AND PRECISE
DEVELOPMENT PLAN REQUEST FOR AN AUTO BODY REPAIR AND PAINTING
ESTABLISHMENT AT 1081 TO 1087 AVIATION, LEGALLY DESCRIBED AS LOTS
49 AND 50, AND THE SOUTHERLY 58 FEET OF LOTS 47 AND 48, HERMOSA
HEIGHTS TRACT
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on
September 18, 1990, to receive oral and written testimony
regarding an application for a Conditional Use Permit at 1081 -
1087 Aviation Boulevard and made the following findings:
A. The applicant, European Body Shop is proposing to construct a
new building and parking lot for an auto body repair and
painting business;
B. The site is zoned C-3, which requires a Conditional Use
Permit;
C. Auto Body and Painting shops are land intensive types of
commercial uses that require sufficient land area to support
both indoor storage space for working on cars, storage of
wrecked cars, and storage of parts and outdoor parking areas
for customers and employees;
D. The subject site is not large enough to allow for sufficient
indoor storage and work areas, meaning that the work
activities and storage of wrecked vehicles will spill-over to
the outside areas;
E. The proposed use is not compatible with nearby and
surrounding residential properties, and a concentration of
similar types of commercial uses exists in the vicinity of
the subject site;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission
of the City of Hermosa Beach, California does hereby deny
Conditional Use Permit for an auto body repair and painting
establishment.
