RESOLUTION NO. 10-6698
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE PAYMENT
EXEMPTION AT SILVER POST METERS TO FULLY ELECTRIC AND
NATURAL GAS VEHICLES
WHEREAS, the Green Task Force held a meeting on September 21, 2009, and
recommended that the city only extend free parking to fully electric and CNG vehicles at silver
post meters.
WHEREAS, the city went through a trial period where Hybrid vehicles, along with fully
electric and CNG vehicles were exempt at silver post meters as an incentive to purchase clean air
vehicles.
WHEREAS, the need to offer the incentive to Hybrid vehicles has ended with the
proliferation of makes and models offered and sold by dealers.
WHEREAS, the identifying marker for exempt Hybrid vehicles was the HOV sticker
issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles and the agency stopped issuing the HOV stickers.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA
BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
l . To exempt fully electric and natural gas vehicles from payment at silver post (2 and
3 hour) parking meters.
2. The exemption is only for payment at silver post meters and the vehicles are still
obligated to vacate the space after the posted time restriction (2 hour or 3 hour).

3. All other parking restrictions must also be followed.
