RESOLUTION NO.13-6834
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, TO SUPPORT A JOINT BEACH
CITIES CALTRANS GRANT APPLICATION FOR AVIATION
BOULEVARD LIVING STREETS CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND
LIVING STREETS DESIGN MANUAL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Caltrans Grant proposes a regional and multi -city collaboration
including Customization of the Living Streets Design Manual for each of the Beach Cities of
Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach; Living Streets conceptual design for the
Aviation corridor through the Beach Cities; traffic and parking impact studies; and public input
meetings.
SECTION 2. The Grant will continue prior study to evaluate the Aviation Boulevard
corridor with regard to increasing walking and biking and making the corridor a more sustainable
part of the community and region. Work will be coordinated with other City efforts to improve
the PCH/Aviation Boulevard corridor, and will work toward assessment of concepts in the
Livability Plan and the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan adopted by the Council on October 25,
2011. These concepts could assist in an overall strategy to reduce the City's carbon footprint.
The Grant will assess the viability of various concepts that could assist in an overall strategy to
reduce the City's carbon footprint.
SECTION 3. The Grant will implement the City's Living Street Policy adopted on
December 11, 2012 in support of a more sustainable, Blue Zones Community.
SECTION 4. The City of Hermosa Beach agrees to support and participate in a Joint
Beach Cities Caltrans Partnership Planning Grant Application for Aviation Boulevard Living
Street Conceptual Design and Living Streets Design Manual and authorize the City Manager to
execute all grant documents as may be necessary.

SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution,
shall forward a copy of this Resolution to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation
Authority, shall cause the original of the same to be entered among the original Resolutions of the
City Council, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the minutes of the
City Council meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
