Home My WebLink AboutRES-93-5641 (ELECTION 11/2/93)Nwopd 1 2 3 4 5 6, 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 93-5641 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 1992, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election, consolidated with the special statewide and consolidated elections, was held and conducted in the City of Hermosa Beach, California, on Tuesday, November 2, 1993, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law; voting precincts were property established; election officers were appointed, and in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 93-5629 adopted July 27, 1993, the County Election Department, County of Los Angeles, canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results to this City Council; the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A". NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That there were fifteen (15) voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election, consisting of the regular election precincts in said City as established for holding of State and County elections. - 1 - r..r 1 2 3 4 5 6' 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 SECTION 2. That the whole number of ballots cast in the precincts except absent voter ballots and provisional ballots was 3,812. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 801, making a total of 4,613 ballots cast in the City. SECTION 3. That the names of the persons voted for at the election for Member of the City Council are as follows: Jeanette S. Jones John Bowler Christian L. Burke Julia Oakes Michael D'Amico Joseph Di Monda Gene Dreher Peter Y. Mangurian J.R. Reviczky Phil A. Pennington Tom Loversky Roger Carlson Albert G. Wiemans SECTION 4. That the measure submitted to the electors of said City and voted upon at the General Municipal Election is as follows: H ADVISORY VOTE ONLY: CONSIDERATION OF INCREASING STANDARD HEIGHT LIMIT IN R-3 AND R -P ZONES. Shall the standard height limit for development upon R-3 zoned property be increased from 30 to 35 feet? SECTION S. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons above named for the respective office for which the persons were candidates, and for and against the measure, were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached. SECTION 6: The City Council does declare and determine that: John Bowler was elected as Member of the City Council for the full term of four (4 ) years; Julia Oakes was elected as Member of the City Council for the full term of four (4) years; - 2 - N%RVI 11 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 J.R. Reviczky was elected as Member of the City Council for the full term of four (4) years; That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on the advisory measure relating to increasing the standard height limit in R-3 and R -P zones from 30 to 35 feet did not vote in favor of it, and that the measure was not carried. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter, into the records of the City Council of the City, a statement of the result of the election, showing: (1) the whole number of ballots cast in the City; (2) the names of the persons voted for; (3) the measure voted upon; (4 ) for what office each person was voted for; (5 ) the number of votes given at each precinct to each person, and for and against the measure; and (6) the total number of votes given to each person, and for and against the measure. SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of the persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in the office of the City Clerk. Each and all of the persons so elected shall then be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. SECTIONS.
