HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES-95-5753 (ELECTION-11/7/95 CONSOLIDATION W/COUNTY)1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 `..II 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 95-5753 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 79, 1995, PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hermosa Beach called a Regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 7, 1995, for the purpose of the election of two Members of the City Council, a City Clerk and a City Treasurer, and WHEREAS, the City Council is also submitting to the voters a question relating to oil well drilling; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the General Municipal Election be consolidated with the School Election to be held on the same date and that within the city the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the county election department of the County of Los Angeles canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election and that the election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 10403 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a General Municipal Election with the School Election on Tuesday, November 7, 1995, for the purpose of the election of two Members of the City Council, a City Clerk and a City Treasurer. Section 2. That a measure is to appear on the ballot as follows: 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 \%Wl/ 27 REPEALING THE TWO EXCEPTIONS TO THE CITYWIDE BAN ON OIL DRILLING YES NO Shall the Ordinance which would eliminate the current Municipal Code provisions which exempt the City Yard and the former South School playground sites from the citywide ban on oil drilling be adopted? Section 3. That the county election department is authorized to canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election. The election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. Section 4. That the Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the county election department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated election. Section 5. That the City of Hermosa Beach recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for any costs. Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the county election department of the County of Los Angeles. Section 7. City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption reof in the minutes of the meeting at which the resolution is adopted.
