Honorable Mayor and Members City Council Meeting
of the City Council of October 11, 1983
ADDITIONAL CROSSING GUARD
Recommendation
It is recommended that your Honorable Body approve an allocation
of $4,800 for an additional Crossing Guard at the Pier Avenue/
Pacific Coast Highway intersection for fiscal year 83/84; said
allocation to be taken from Prospective Expenditures.
Background
At the Council meeting of September 27, 1983, three parents
expressed their concern for the lack of a crossing guard at the
Pier Avenue/PCH intersection. At that time your Honorable Body
indicated the issue would be brought before the City/School
Sub -committee meeting on Thursday, September 29, 1983.
Analysis
At the City/School Subcommittee meeting of September 29, 1983,
Mayor Schmeltzer and Councilman Brutsch stated they would submit
a recommendation to the full City Council to add another crossing
guard at the intersection in question. That is the recommenda-
tion before your Honorable Body this evening.
Further, Mayor Schmeltzer and Councilman Brutsch encouraged the
School District to support Proposition H which is designed to
insure future funds necessary for the Crossing Guard Program.
