HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/11/83October 3, 1983 Honorable Mayor and Members City Council Meeting of the City Council of October 11, 1983 ADDITIONAL CROSSING GUARD Recommendation It is recommended that your Honorable Body approve an allocation of $4,800 for an additional Crossing Guard at the Pier Avenue/ Pacific Coast Highway intersection for fiscal year 83/84; said allocation to be taken from Prospective Expenditures. Background At the Council meeting of September 27, 1983, three parents expressed their concern for the lack of a crossing guard at the Pier Avenue/PCH intersection. At that time your Honorable Body indicated the issue would be brought before the City/School Sub -committee meeting on Thursday, September 29, 1983. Analysis At the City/School Subcommittee meeting of September 29, 1983, Mayor Schmeltzer and Councilman Brutsch stated they would submit a recommendation to the full City Council to add another crossing guard at the intersection in question. That is the recommenda- tion before your Honorable Body this evening. Further, Mayor Schmeltzer and Councilman Brutsch encouraged the School District to support Proposition H which is designed to insure future funds necessary for the Crossing Guard Program. Alana M.
