In the 1930s, it was renamed The Biltmore Hotel. The hotel boasted an Olympic-sized swimming pool, the “Key Room” for first-class dining, rooftop dancing, and an elegant lobby, which welcomed Washington dignitaries and Hollywood stars for 43 years. *At press time we were still waiting on the final proof of this tile from the artist. The actual tile will be the same format as the others. 9Attachment 1 The Surf and Sand Beach Club - The Biltmore Hotel, 1402 The Strand Ells said he may be able to build a concrete stand or something similar in the sand as an alternative. Or it could go in a boulder (that Leadership Hermosa Beach would purchase) on the end. We think the best location would be against the wall if it is flat enough. 9 10Attachment 1 Clark Stadium, 861 Valley Dr. 10 11Attachment 1 Clark Stadium, 861 Valley Dr. This tile will be placed in front of the stairs on the walkway to the building, not on the sidewalk. 11 12Attachment 1 The First Bank of Hermosa Beach (90 Pier Avenue) 12 13Attachment 1 The First Bank of Hermosa Beach (90 Pier Avenue) The tile will be placed on the cement just out of the main walkway, but not on the black surfacing to the North. 13 14Attachment 1 Hermosa Beach Courthouse / Jail (1238 Hermosa Avenue) 14 15Attachment 1 Hermosa Beach Courthouse / Jail (1238 Hermosa Avenue) The tile will be placed on the sidewalk by the parking lot and Boogaloo. 15 16Attachment 1 Pier Avenue School, 710 Pier Avenue 16 17Attachment 1 Pier Avenue School, 710 Pier Avenue Since the city owns the building the tile can be placed on it. If placed on this wall, under the light it will be visible to those walking in. As an alternative, Ells suggested building a concrete stand/encasement in the flower bed to the West of the brick walkway. 17 18Attachment 1 Waves History Important Contacts •Lucas Doub –Waves of History, Project Co-Leader –lucasdoub@gmail.com –(310) 227-3659 •Allison Boman –Waves of History, Project Co-Leader –Boman.allison@gmail.com –(310) 318-4089 •Ryan Nowicki –Leadership Hermosa Beach Board President –ryandnowicki@yahoo.com –(310) 600-2848 •Diana Watson –Native Tile & Ceramics Principal –(310) 533-8684 18 19Attachment 1
