lllA RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENTS OF THE CITY OF
HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A SIGN VARIANCE FOR ADDITIONAL
2 11 SIGN FOOTAGE & DENYING A SIGN VARIANCE FOR COMMODITY IDENTIFICATIO
SIGNS ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1106 HERMOSA AVENUE, HERMOSA BEACH,CA.

4 WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustments of the City of
5 1 !Hermosa Beach, at a public hearing held on July 18, 1983, in the
6l !Council Chambers of the City Hall, considered the request of
7 11Mr. Mike Jepsen, for permission to use all existing sign cans,
8llon property legally described as Lot 7, Block 35, 1st Addition to
91 I the Hermosa Beach Tract;
10 WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the following facts
lll!Were presented for consideration: that the sign area allowed in
121 !that zone is 1½ sq. ft. of signing per foot of lineal building
131 lfront age, this would al low this project 63 sq. ft. and the appli-
14 cant is requesting 114 sq. ft. Also, the sign ordinance allows
15 for commodity identification signs in windows .only and the
16l lapplicant is requesting to allow for the use of a logo and
17 11 commodity identification sign on the wall. The Building Departmen
18 I lhas approved the .twelve 2' X 2' signs for a total of 48 ft. , the
19 11 Board therefore, is considering a variance for the two 3' X 6'
2O llsigns and one 10"' X 1½' sign;
21 WHEREAS, at said public hearing, the applicant stated
22 I lthat he did not have much room for window signs and he needed the
23l lsigns to stay in business;
24 WHEREAS, at said public hearin$, no one appeared to
251 lspeak in opposition to the project;
26 WHEREAS, after due consideration, it is the opinion of
27 I lthe Board of Zoning Adjustments that a sign ·variance is granted
28llfor additional sign footage only, by the following vote:

WHEREAS, after due consideration, it is the opinion of
5 the Board of Zoning Adjustments that the request for a commodity
6 identification sign is denied by the following vote:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE ·IT RESOLVED that the Board of Zoning
llllAdjustments does hereby grant the sign variance and denies the
12llrequest for commodity identification sign on the walls.

14111 hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution B.Z.A. 83-1 was
15l ladopted by the Board·of Zoning Adjustments of the City of Hermosa
