HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC_Minutes_1955_06_15n P L A N N I N G C O M M I S S I O N MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL ADJOURNED meeting of the Planning Commission held in the City Hall, Wednesday, June 15, 1955 at 7:30 oVclock PoMG PETITION OF MAURICE ~ENATAR FOR YA.Rl~ Petition of Maurice Benatar, covering portions of Lots 1,2, and 3, Bloc~ 3, Montmarie Tract, situated at 2455=2461 Pacific Coast Highway~ for permission to construct a two~,story commercial building consisting of stores and offices in an a~2 zone& This petition was discussed at the regular meeting of June 13, 1955 and held over for consultation with the City Attorney and Planning Consultant., After much discussion, it was moved by Comm~ Hixson and seconded by Comm~ Black that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that a variance be granted for the erection of buildings per the plot plan submitted with this petition., The petitioner under the existing zoning is being denied reasonable use of his property in view of the fact that property immediately adjacent ot his property is now zoned for Commercial purposeso Resolution NooPC 33 was adopted by the following vote: Yes: Comm0 Black, Dennie, Fisher, Haneman, Hixson and Miller No: None Absent: None ADJOURNMENT The Commission adjourned by unanimous consent to June 22, 1955 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. i.n the City Halle P1~,ANNii~G COMMISSION ~INUTES OF THE SPECIAL ~ETING of the Planning Commission held in the Ctty , .all, Wednesday~ June 22nds 1955 t:.t 7:30 o'clock PoM .. Black, Dennie, Fi~her, Haneman, Miller and Mayor Edwards Absent~ Comm0 Hixson This meeting was held for the purpose of discussing the latest drafts of the proposed new zoning ordinance and mayo Peter Priamos was present and asked about the future zoning of his propert.y) which is the E portions of Lo·ts 14 ,15Jll6, Block g1, Second Add., to HeBo The discussion of this property closed with two propositions finally coming to a vote .. Propsition I was that these lots ~hotu.d remain as they are on the old map ( 1943), with the rear portion zoned M and the Highway fro:.-1·1:;a_::;;r zoned C,, Proposition II 1-1as -that t.he entire depth of 290 9 should be zoned G with the lower portion zoned poten.tial "M"., The vote was a~ follow~: Commissioners Prop .. Sections 402, 502, 602, 702: Ask Mro Kalicka about theste The following corrections were suggested to be made on the map: 1. All of Pacific Coast Highway from boundary to boundary. except Block 81. Second Addition to HoBo should be zoned "C" potential behind the designated "C" zones to a depth of an uneven 200' o 2o Should be zoned "C" on Gould Ave .. from Paco Cstc Hwy" to boundaryo 3o Lot 3, Block 2, W .. J .. Smith's Tract should be "C" because has same owner as frontage propertyo 4.. Block 117, Shakespeare, NE J 5' of Lots 4 and 6, change from "C" to R--3" 5. Block 67, Lots 13,14, First Add_., toH.B .. should be changed from "C" to R=lo 6Q Change N ½ of Lot 4 and all of Lot 5. Block 31, First Add~ to HoBo from "C" to R=J .. 7B Change a small irregulary=shaped block bordered by Amby Place, 30th Street, Amby Drive and Braeholm Place from R=l with a potential R=J ( to straight R=l., 8.. Dennie and Miller Absent: Comma Hixson There was much discussion as to the proposed zoning of the North Strand area from 18th Street to the boundary, with many suggestions being made~ It was suggested that Mr. Kalicka also be asked about the meaning of "non= conforming" in relation to structures existing in zones which are beirtg changed to a zone different from the one under which the structure was built .. Lhe meeting adjourned at 11:00 by unanimous consent of the Commission~
