HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC_Minutes_1955_07_11,--...., ( P L A ~~ N I N G C O M M I S S I O N Hermo~a Bem.ch, Califo Ju.ly 11, 1955 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING of the Pl$nning Commis~ion of the City of Hermo~a Beach held in the City Hall, Monday, July 11, 19:55 ~t '7~JO ~'clock P@Mo in the City of Hermo~a Beacho ROLL CALL: Pre~ent: Com.mo Bl~ck, Dennie, Fi~her, H~nemM, Hix~on ~nd Miller. and M'®:.yor Edward~ Ab~ent: None SET=BACK ON AYA AVENUE A communication from the Building Department was read asking to have the rear yard set···back established on tbe west side of Ava Avenue, in particular on Lota 4,8 and l!-9 :• Marcher Tract o Thi~ request stems from an inquiry from Mre Thomas Simpson, owner of the above lots& His house faces Ardmore Avenue and the rear of his lot abuts Ava Avenue~ This presentH the problem of establishing a rear yard set-back along Ava Avenue that will not conflict with the established front yard set=backs for those houses facing Ava@ After a short discussion, Commo Miller moved that the rear yard set·-·back on Ava Avenue be established at 5 v o This motion was seconded by Commn Haneman, and carried by the following vote: AYES: Comm.. Black, Dennie• Fi sher 1, Hane man• Hixson, Miller and Mayor Edwardso NOES: None PETITION OF EDWARD HAWKINS REGARDING "HQ,BBYLAND" Petition of Edward Hawkins for permission to conduct a business to be known as "Hobbyland", involving the retail sale of hobby goods, prototype models of utility household items, design and development of products for other manufacture, providing of con= sultant engineering service to manufacturers of these products, etc~ at 16-14th Street, property describen as Lot 7, Block 14, Hermosa Beach Tract, Zone C=l~ ' l ( Plari.:o.ing Coli.rn:d s ~ :tc:: July 11, 1955 Page Two After discussion of this matter, Comm. Hixson moved that the petition be granted on the grounds that the use as specified in the petition is no more bbnoxious or detrimental to the welfare of the district than other businesses described in Section 13 of Ord. NoQN.So8o This motion was seconded by Comm. Black, and Resolution Noo PC 35 was adopted by the following vote: AYES: Commo Black, Dennie, Fisher, Haneman, Hixson, Miller and Mayor Edwards NOES: None PETITION OF .GEORGE THOMAS. Petition of George Thomas covering Lots land 2, Block 108, Shakespeare Tract, the SE corner of 28th Street and Hermosa Avenue, requesting permission to construct a multiple dwelling with a front yard set=back of 16' on HermosaAvenue, instead of the established set=backG Zone R=4o After discussion, Comm .. Haneman moved the petition be granted with the provision that garage requirements be meta This motion was made on the grounds that nearby blocks have 2' and 3' set= backs, with the exception of one block in the vicinity~ This motion was seconded by Commo Black,and Resolution No~ PC 34 was adopted by the following vote: AYES: Comm. Black, Dennie, Fisher, Haneman, Hixson, Miller and Mayor EdwardsG NOES: None APPRO)lAL OF MINUTEa Comm~ Black moved the approval as received of the minutes of the regular meeting of June 13, 1955, and the adjourned regular meeting of June 15, 1955, seconded by Comm~ Miller and carried unanimously ..
