WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission of Hermosa Beach, at a public hearing held on April 23, 1973, considered the request of Henry DiMond for a conditional use permit to establish a take-out pizza restaurant on lot 2, block 117, Shake- speare Tract, known as 200 Longfellow Avenue;. and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, it was indicated that off-street parking was available for two vehicles at a time, that both Longfellow and Manhattan Avenues are narrow crowded streets, that there was a strong likelihood of customers backing onto said streets, that a continuous flow of automobile traffic through the parking lot would substantially increase crowding at this intersection, that a late night gathering place for juveniles could be created; and WHEREAS, seven local residents protested the request based on potential noise, traffic and litter increase in the area; and WHEREAS, after due consideration, it is the opinion of the Planning Commission that the proposed take out restaurant is not compatible with existing and planned uses and no mitigation measures are available to make the use compatible; that ingress and egress are not adequate, and the use, if successful, would create undue congestion and a traffic safety hazard; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Planning Commission of Hermosa Beach hereby denies the subject request for the reasons stated hereinabove.
