RESOLUTION P.C. 78-2 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OPPOSING THE GRANTING OF AN URBAN EXCLUSION TO THE CITY OF MANHATTAN BEACH WHEREAS, the City of Manhattan Beach has requested an urban exclusion from the California Coastal Zone Commission; and WHEREAS, the granting of such an urban exclusion represents an irreversible action removing the ability of the Coastal Commission to review developments and changes in Manhattan Beach; and WHEREAS, such an exclusion would be based on an assumption that no action in the City of Manhattan Beach under present city ordinances could affect the coastal environment or com- munity, and that such an assumption is false; and WHEREAS, the beach cities are part of a region and the action of one community can frequently affect neighboring communities; and WHEREAS, the granting of such an exclusion in these circumstances creates a bad precedent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of Hermosa Beach does hereby reconmend that the City of Hermosa Beach express its opposition to t he granting of an urban exclusion to the City of Manhattan Beach by the California Coastal Commission.
