RES-26-7557 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election for the City of Hermosa Beach (“City”) shall be held on November 3, 2026, for the election of members of the City Council pursuant to the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of California; and WHEREAS, the election is to elect three (3) City Council seats; and WHEREAS, the City consolidates its municipal elections with Los Angeles County (“County”) pursuant to California Elections Code (“Elections Code”) sections 10401 and 10403, and the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk administers operational aspects of the election; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to call and give notice of the election and authorize the City Clerk to take all actions necessary to conduct the election in accordance with law. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals above are true and correct, and are hereby incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. Election Called. A General Municipal Election is called and ordered to be held in the City on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the purpose of electing three (3) Members of the City Council for the full term of four (4) years pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to general law cities. The ballots to be used at the election shall be in the form and content required by law. a. Coordination. The City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to coordinate with the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter, and all supplies, equipment, and paraphernalia necessary for the conduct of the election; and to take all actions necessary to conduct the election in accordance with the Elections Code. b. Vote. That the polls and vote centers for the election shall be open at seven (7) a.m. of the day of the election and shall remain open continuously from that time until eight (8) p.m. of the same day when the polls and vote centers shall be closed pursuant to Elections Code section 10242; except as provided in Elections Code sections 14212 and 14401. c. Conducting Election. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. d. Notice. That notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the City Clerk is authorized, instructed, and directed to give further or additional notice of the election as required by law). e. Tie Vote. That in the event of a tie vote, the City Council shall proceed in accordance with Elections Code section 15651. f. Authorization. The City Council authorizes the City Clerk to administer said election and all reasonable and actual election expenses shall be paid by the City upon presentation of a properly submitted bill. SECTION 4. Certification. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; cause the same to be entered among the original resolutions of the City; and make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council.
