Councilman Post discussed Beach Area Inter-City'Bus Committee's - discussion of proposed service for Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach and El Segundo; asked that City think ahead re subsidy this would require. Should have specific recommendations in a month -or two. 2. Councilman valdes pointed out that'highway to Sister City Loreto in Baja California now open - asked that interested citizens get involved in revitalizing activity. 3. Councilman valdes requested publicity for Tree Bank - if you have one,you want to get rid of, City will remove it; if you want one, City will provide it. .HIC-wants citizens to contact Environmental Control Officer. 4. Councilman Valdes encouraged publicity for Beautification Month,. March, 1974 - improvement of neighborhood areas with City help. 5. Councilman Valdes pointed out that density relates to land use. rather than number of persons - man with ten. kids favors low density. We should not stratify our society - home owners vs. renters, R-1 vs. condominium ownership, etc. Non -Agenda Items - City Council: 6a. Councilman Post reported re Annual Conference of California Museum of Science and Industry re arts in municipal life and what cities should be doing. Suggested Sunday evening picnic concertsat Frances Young Bowl. Councilman Valdes asked that Park and Recreation Commission study cultural programming, particularly for Frances Young Bowl during the summer. Was advised by City Atty to take matter to Small Claims Court, - fee only $2 and no lawyer required. 17b. Jim Rosenberger, 156 First Court, asked that Bike Committee have report for Planning Commission when they hold workshop re bike problems on February 26. City Manag:errstated that staff had been made aware of.this request for input after last council meeting but he did not know whether material was ready as`!. 17c. Dick Holmgren, 440 - 2nd Street, discussed Density Problem; and encouraging business to come to City; andyhelpava.ilableofr5m1Boy. Scouts for community projects —said EEEEsands of man-hours are available to City if We will just ask; and Sister City program involve Scout groups there, also. 17d. Donald Sautter, 401 Ardmore Avenue, questioned where City got figure for improving City Yard; and asked Council to request written opinions from City Atty re all RA questions;-7especially whether no condemnation in RA district was binding and about dissolution of RA activities, on July 3,'1973,and Cochise street vacation; and wanted to know exactly who should take the credit for originating RA and adopting plan. Guss Barks, 119 PCH, wanted to know if opponents of RA could have equal space in CityNewsletter; and stated his opinion that School Board had approved selling school property to. City, not to RA. 18. to authorize the connection of property located at 1265 - 5th Street and the two adjoining properties to the Redondo Beach 'city sewer lines, direct the City Manager to request that the Redondo Beach City Council authorize the recommendedconnection, with the stipu- lation that this work will be done at no cost to the City of Hermosa Beach, all subject to review by the City Attorney. Note: Councilman Wise had many questions as to why Strand improve- ment south of Municipal Pier which was supposed to accompany construction of Lifeguard Headquarters, plus landscaping of said premises, and removal of old public restrooms - etc. etc. had never happened. Requested that originalagreement be brought before Council so they could see how much the County has done of what they said they were going to do, Also Council directed City Manager to do something about delays. 21. to adopt.
